"Where's My Hat?"

What else should you do in hot weather in England with kids, other than a picnic? So of course we've had a few over the past few days, and the girls' behaviour has been like this; Brooke runs around like a wild banshee, throws her crocs off at any opportunity, refuses to wear her hat, eats very little, pinches other kids toys and goes inside their sun tents, then cries when it's time to go and begs for an ice cream. Having been told that if she doesn't wear her hat she won't get an ice cream, of course when she hears those tinkling chimes she starts demanding "WHERE'S MY HAT? WHERE'S MY HAT?" so she can put it on and get an ice cream. She's not stupid. She's clearly learnt the rules of engagement because when we set out today she asked if she could have one. It being a few degrees cooler and my purse a few ice cream cones poorer, I said no. To which she replied "I be naughty then".

Taya on the other hand, isn't that bothered about the playground other than to go on the swings. If you put a picnic blanket down and pull out some food, she sticks with you until she's had her fill. Sandwiches are opened, fillings eaten and bread stamped on. Bags of crisps for dipping in humous? Bag ripped open for easier access, fistfuls of humous brought to mouth (and chin, neck, hair etc). Grapes are put in the mouth, popped and then spat out and danced on. Thank god for wet wipes.

The journey home is typically one in the sling on my back and one in the buggy. Inevitably one or both of them fall asleep and when we get home I have to lug two kids, one picnic bag and one buggy up 37 steps. They pass out for 2 hours whilst I blog about their little quirks for posterity. Nice.

Where on earth might I have put my name in my details so a google can find it. i know I'm not making sense, It's bed time x
